Car auctions
A wider search starts in Japan.
Japan’s auctions are where most of the country’s used cars change hands, and they hold models, specifications and editions that rarely surface anywhere else. For a buyer with a clear idea of what they want, it is the widest search available.

What the auctions offer
Four reasons buyers come to Japan’s auctions, and why they keep coming back.
Variety
Thousands of cars change hands at Japan’s auctions every week: everyday hatchbacks, people carriers, 4x4s, commercial vehicles, luxury saloons and sports cars, side by side in one search.
Specification
Japanese-market cars often carry equipment, engines or editions never offered elsewhere, from factory options to domestic-only models that make the search worth starting in Japan.
Enthusiast appeal
Many of the cars collectors look for in Europe and the Middle East were built for Japan first. Rotary coupés, turbocharged saloons, kei cars and limited runs still appear regularly.
Opportunity
With regular supply, a brief that is not matched this week can be matched next week. Patience and a clear specification are rewarded.
Every car on its own evidence
The auctions offer choice, not a guarantee. Not every Japanese car is low mileage, rust free or carefully maintained, and not every auction purchase ends up cheaper than buying at home once the full cost is counted. Some will be; many will not. The only honest way to buy is to judge each car individually.
That means looking at three things together before you set a ceiling:
- The car itself. The auction report, the photographs, the questions the sheet leaves open and any further checks or inspection we can arrange.
- The whole cost. Hammer price, auction fees, Rindo’s charges, transport, export preparation, shipping and your destination’s duties, taxes and registration.
- Your alternatives. Whether a similar car at home, a stock car in Japan or a dedicated search would serve you better. We will tell you when it would.
Understanding Costs sets out every cost line before you commit anything.

How to buy

Purchase and import support
Authorised bidding, payment stages, export preparation, shipping and the destination stages for your country, explained and handled.

Buyers with a clear specification who can wait for the right car. Enthusiasts after a model or edition that was never sold at home. Dealers who need regular supply with condition evidence they can compare. Anyone who would rather see the report and our findings before committing than take a seller’s word.
When another route suits better
If you want a car that is available now with no sale date to wait for, stock cars may fit. If the car is rare, unusual or needs a search across dealers and private sellers as well as auctions, dedicated car sourcing covers all of them. The assessment and the journey home are the same whichever route you take.
